What do you do at Merritt Group?
I’m an account executive in the Cybersecurity Practice. I provide PR, marketing and strategic communication support for a range of companies that deliver security consulting, network visibility, cloud security and SOC solutions.
What’s your greatest moment — whether in work, school or marketing/PR — so far?
In February, I led media relations for a robot and ransomware campaign, which ended up being featured on CNN. This past December, I landed my first story in Forbes. Merritt Group’s media relations team rocks, and I’ve learned so much here in only 10 short months. Also, at my first post-grad job, I worked on pet-related campaigns and helped host an adoption event at a cat cafe, which was pretty cool!
Who do you love to follow on Twitter or Instagram and why?
Any travel and workout Instagram is gold. I also love to see Chrissy Teigen’s couple adventures with John Legend pop up on my newsfeed!
What’s your favorite piece of technology?
I’m torn between music and video streaming services (Spotify, Netflix, Hulu) and Amazon Prime. I also think the concept behind Uber and Lyft is awesome and I’m excited to see self-driving cars develop more.
What’s your favorite thing about living in the Washington, D.C., area?
I grew up here, but am seeing the city through a whole new set of eyes after moving back to the area. The city’s architecture is unparalleled and I love experiencing everything the region has to offer — The Wharf, the Boardroom, ARTECHOUSE, Caps hockey watch events, the rotating art exhibits and museums, plus Virginia wineries and hiking trails in the Shenandoah.
What do you love to do when you are not working?
Try new things. Earlier this year I made a list of 100 new things I wanted to try, thinking it would last the whole year — and I did it all in under two months. I really enjoy trying new fitness workouts — kangoo jumps, aerial yoga, silks, barre, boxing, sprint triathlons, weekend music festivals (definitely qualifies as a workout), etc.
What are your podcast recommendations?
I am a little late to the podcast game, only recently devouring the first season of Serial — a must-hear! Shoutout to Merritt Grouper Laura Klebanow for that recommendation!
What’s your favorite Merritt Group memory?
Our holiday party, hands down. You had to be there.
What’s one thing you can’t live without?
Some high-quality REM in nap form.
What’s the most interesting item on your desk?
My Orange Circle Studio planner. It has revolutionized my organizational skills and is one of few planners I’ve found that gives me enough space each day to write my to do list. It also has a goal setting section each month, and stickers to highlight important occasions and reminders.
