Databricks, an agile, cloud-based data platform, developed an open sourced-based big data processing engine called Apache Spark. Spark achieved strong grassroots adoption at the practitioner level, but Databricks turned to Merritt Group to scale that growth globally and also reach executive and budget-level decision-makers at enterprises and innovative startups.
Merritt Group secured national business media around the company’s Spark Summit East (NYC) and West (SF) events, launched a major annual survey on Spark adoption, positioned Databricks execs as thought leaders and pushed customer stories tying Databricks to companies like MyFitnessPal and Netflix. We tripled monthly Spark coverage, increased Databricks mentions in Spark stories to 40 percent, secured coverage in Wall Street Journal, Forbes, Fortune and more. Fortune reporter Derrick Harris went to so far as to call Spark “The Taylor Swift of big data.”
