This month, Merritt Groupers across the country participated in our annual Spring into Service (SiS) week, one of the two weeks Merritt Group dedicates to community service each year.
SiS was originally started by a group of employees who wanted to celebrate and give back leading up to Earth Day. Fast forward through a pandemic and now we’ve shifted activities to enable a more hybrid and remote workforce to participate – no matter where they are.

Merritt Group employees were also given the opportunities to support local animal shelters, donate gently used professional clothing, support causes we care about in our own communities, and make sustainable choices throughout SiS week in observance of Earth Day 2022.
Together we were able to:
- Donate 21 blankets and towels, blankets, and comforters from our homes to the local animal shelters across the country;
- Participate in spring cleaning of our own, donating gently-used professional clothes to non-profits in 13 cities;
- Support four other causes that our employees are passionate
about, including giving platelets, cleaning up local beaches and parks in North Carolina’s OuterBanks, volunteering at BayPath Humane Society, and collecting books for Reading Partners’ book drive; - Share environmentally-friendly tips to celebrate Earth Day 2022, including simple swaps we can make in our day-to-day lives to become more sustainable.
And the fun isn’t over just yet! Due to COVID-19 precautions, we were unable to proceed with our plans to make floral arrangements for the residents at Sunrise Senior Living of McLean. Instead, we will be making 35 gorgeous arrangements to brighten their dining room tables on May 5th once their restrictions are lifted—just in time for Mother’s Day!
With another SiS in the books, is it too soon to start counting down to this year’s Merry Week of Giving?
