Merritt Group Kicks Off the Giving Season at Head Start

Merritt Groupers kicked off the season of giving on Tuesday with a trip to Head Start, a branch of Northern Virginia Family Service’s (NVFS) early education program. The Head Start program is designed to promote school readiness in low-income children ages 3 to 5, who may otherwise find themselves behind their peers in preparedness once they reach kindergarten. Through educational, health, nutritional, social and other services, Head Start enhances the cognitive development of the children who participate.

Merritt Group's Got Spirit! How About You?

Last week, Merritt Group celebrated our first annual Spirit Week. With a fun-filled theme each day and small in-office events throughout the week, we focused on physical well-being and healthy competition.

On Monday, Merritt Group-ers suited up to reveal their inner superheroes (or supervillains), then used their powers for a heated game of office knockout. Senior VP & Partner, Shahed Ahmed, eventually took home the win, but not without some fierce competition from account supervisor, Mia Damiano.

What do you do at Merritt Group?

I’m a summer intern working on a variety of client and creative projects.

What’s your greatest moment — whether in work, school or marketing/PR — so far?

My greatest moment in PR so far is landing an internship at Merritt Group and being able to work with my friends and former VT PRSSA colleagues, Katie Pesek and Melanie Ford! I am a public relations major and although I’ve held internships in the past, this is my first at a PR firm. I really wanted to apply what I’ve learned in the classroom to a real-world setting, and now I get that chance. It has been incredibly exciting to say the least.

Bright Beginnings: Merritt’s Volunteer Day Off

Agency life is fast paced. It requires the ability to multi-task and pivot quickly, and demands a constant focus on client needs. That can be taxing if you don’t keep things in perspective. One way Merritt Group helps to keep staff so energized to focus on our client work is the firm’s dedication to helping employees maintain balance in their lives. Whether it’s offering flex time, holding monthly exercise classes, or sponsoring the annual Merry Week of Giving and supporting ad hoc causes through the year, Merritt Group has created a culture that celebrates all aspects of an individual’s well being.
