What do you do at Merritt Group?
I’m an account coordinator with the Business Technology Group.

What’s your greatest moment — whether in work, school or marketing/PR — so far?
I’m early off in my career, but I loved my internship experiences. One of my favorite memories from my internship with Scripps Networks Interactive was working on nomination submissions for the Primetime Emmys. When I interned with Scripps, the parent company of lifestyle networks like HGTV, DIY Network, Travel Channel and Food Network, I helped compile information for the awards for several HGTV and Travel Channel shows. That was such a cool experience in itself, to help with the preliminary stage of the awards process, but even better, one of the shows I helped with received a nomination!

Who do you love to follow on Twitter or Instagram and why?
I love a good mix of things that make me laugh and things that make me think, so if an account can do both, I’m a big fan. So, for Twitter, Mindy Kaling is my everything. I like her tweets the most and I retweet her more than any other account. She’s always been unbelievably funny, but recently she’s leveraged herself as a social activist and I’m all about it.

Instagram is for the dogs … literally. I’m not really into following celebrities on Instagram, because it gets to be too much of a (sometimes) good thing. So outside of following my friends and family, I prefer to stick to dogs. The Dogist is my favorite.

What’s your favorite piece of technology?
My iPhone. Although I can’t say it loves me back. I drop it at least twice a day. It actually has a really cool looking spiderweb of cracks on the screen right now.

What’s your favorite thing about living in the Washington, D.C., area?
I’ve only lived here for six weeks, so thus far, my favorite thing has been how much there is to do! I love the museums, and although I’ve seen them all before, I can’t wait to visit again. I love the weather too. Fall has been beautiful up here, but I’m thrilled about the potential of a winter with some real snow. No more Tennessee “dustings.” Bring on the snowpocalypse!

What’s the best book you’ve read recently?
I don’t have as much time to read as I’d like, but I just started “The Road to Character” by David Brooks, and although I’m only a few chapters in, I can tell it’s going to be a good one. Stay tuned for my book review. … My all-time favorite author is John Steinbeck, so I may reread some of his stuff over the holidays.

What’s your favorite Merritt Group memory?
In October, we had a “Two-Minute Creative Challenge” to make holiday cards for hospitalized children. I think it was originally intended to be Halloween cards, but we ended up making a bunch of different cards that can be handed out throughout the year. It was such a fun opportunity to get creative!

What’s the most interesting item on your desk? Before I moved to the area from Tennessee, my friends gave me a tea towel that says, “Someone in Chattanooga loves me.” I think it’s too cute to use in my kitchen, so I keep it on my desk to make me think of home!
